5 DAYS MARANGU ROUTE

Overview

The Marangu Route is also known as the “Coca Cola” or “tourist” route. It is the quickest and simplest way to go to the summit. This is also the only route offers accommodation in huts at every point you spend your night with solar lights and comfortable beds. The two bottom huts have bathrooms and running water.

Itinerary

After breakfast drive to the Marangu, Kilimanjaro National Park Gate (45 minutes) for registration. Then proceed a 3 hours ( 7km) ascending through the rainforest to Mandara hut located at 9,000 ft / 2,740 m where you will stay for overnight. This camp consists of a group of wooden A-framed huts and flush toilets behind the main hut.

After breakfast early in the morning proceed climbing to Kibo Hut. It is 5 hours walk (10 km). The trek will take us to the last water point and saddle of Kilimanjaro that passes through Kibo peaks and Mawenzi. You will experience vegetation change from heartland into desert like structure.

Awake at 23.30 pm fo final ascent to Uhuru Peak. It is 5 hours to conquer Gillman’s Point on the crater rim. From Gillman’s Point you will start encountering snow all the way up to Uhuru peak (5895m), the highest point in Africa. After taking photos at the summit proceed a 3 hours descending back to Kibo Hut. Then proceed descending to Horombo Hut in afternoon for dinner and overnight

After breakfast proceeds with the gentle trek through the rainforest to Marangu Gate, where we complete park formalities and receive certificates, which you can hang up with pride. Then drive back to the hotel for dinner, overnight and farewell
